It's sort of what Chainsaw does. She destroys Ronan's stereo equipment; she shreds paper and empties the trash out onto the floor. She picks things apart. As for Ronan, sometimes he does destroy things. He knows that Adam makes allowances for him, for Chainsaw, for Opal. He knows it's because Adam loves them.

TIme is an elastic thing. Ronan knows this and yet he was unprepared for this lifetime of distance from Adam. Ronan is more at peace, despite missing Adam, than he has been in a long time. He's doing what he wants to do with his life. In some ways, he is softer than he was before. He is less angry for certain. He notices minute differences in Adam as well. He thinks they're good changes, but he's not entirely certain yet. Either way, he could spend hours looking at Adam, especially now that he's allowed to look at him.

"She woulda been more pissed if I'd left her." It's true. Chainsaw isn't often in a cage. He only puts her in one when it's for her own safety or if there's something particular he doesn't want her to destroy. Now that he's at the Barns full time, Chainsaw is free all of the time. She's definitely not a caged bird. She's not quite a wild thing either. She and Ronan have a lot in common.

He knows what Adam's words mean the same way that he's sure Adam knows when Ronan says Chainsaw missed him that he's saying he missed Adam. After a few seconds, Chainsaw moves from Adam's head to the trashcan. She turns it over and starts picking through it, shredding paper.

Ronan shrugs a little. "Matthew said he'd stay with Opal and feed the animals and shit." He swallows hard after a moment. "I would have come sooner," he finally admits, "I didn't--" he pauses and scowls. "I didn't want to be a distraction." He could hear the homesickness in Adam's voice, or he thought he had. After another pause, Ronan steps toward Adam, reaching out to grab his wrist and tug him closer.
